I've been catching up on game of thrones recently because I missed the entire last season and I thought about this. Will Disney make a GoT like show with star-wars? Or will it stick with animated only for tv and live only for movies? I think that they will stick with animated for now but its possible in a few years or so they might try a live-action series. What does everyone else think? Also what would you want it to be about if it did make it? I'd like an Old Republic series. That would be great to watch, and bring Kotor back to the canon side.

Disney definitely needs to flesh out the Old Republic Era, however I wouldn't mind seeing something set in the years after ROTJ but before TFA.

I think they are working on a young solo movie so they could make a series around that. But a ROTJ era series would be better.

A show from the Empire side could be very interesting, it could also bring back some stuff from the EU such as a fan favorite like Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Thrawn would be cool to see, also Gilad Pellaeon. Maybe they could do a show from the perspective of a squad of stormtroopers.

I think a live action for star wars would prove difficult to say the least, although if I was to have my pic of what type I would say a story that follows a younger Jango Fett.

There was plans to make a gritty, dark Star Wars live action Star Wars series a while ago, they had scripts for the first two seasons written out and Lucas was pretty closely involved. But this was almost 10 years ago and since then no confirmation has been given over whether this will ever become a thing (probably won't)

That being said, I think some sort of live action series is inevitable if Disney continues to head in the direction they're going with Star Wars. Though I doubt it will be as nearly as mature or dark as GOT and will likely be similar to Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.

i would rather see an animated anthology series. it would allow a lot of lore coverage by not being limited to one era, and would certainly cost less than having to get actors, stunt doubles, cgi people, makeup and effects artists, etc. just a handful of writers, animators, voice actors and sound designers. if they put it on netflix, it wouldn't necessarily be watered down kid content, it could be a lot more mature and not have to worry about tv stations imposing limitations.

I would love to see a Band of Brothers-esque miniseries or TV show about a group of stormtroopers or Rebel Soldiers. I  was really hyped to see something like this based off the original Rogue One teaser that got leaked a while back but looking at the one just released, it seems like that's not going to be the case. It doesn't have to be too grindmark or edgy, the market just isn't there but something that just shows ordinary men being soldiers with no jedi or heroes. I have a leaning towards seeing stormtroopers because it's easy to automatically think of them as brainless drones and humanizing them would be really cool. I think that The Force Awakens really dropped the ball on this one when it said  that stormtroopers were kidnapped as children and raised to be soldiers, rather than people enlisting to protect their nation.

Their original idea to make a live action serie between episodes III and IV was pretty good because it's an era that not much treated in TV and movies. So the choice of the story would be enormous like the story of the survivors of the order 66 or the daily story of a stormtrooper unit. But like you guys said a serie about the old republic or the admiral Thrawn could be awesome.

well, those are only first order stormtroopers that were raised from birth. imperial stormtroopers were a mix of recruits and clones from the republic army, and clones of top-class imperial recruits.

I think a live action show will be made eventually. I remember hearing about one that was supposed to have been made a long time ago, but with the new movies coming out I think we will see one made.
I think a show would be made between return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens to fill in the gap.

i for one think otherwise..

since a lot of movies are coming, disney will probably itck to the movies, and let the EU to be filled with hqs and animated series. afterall, all marvel's atempt at live actions were not quite good.

agent carter got canceled because few people watched, and agents of shield is quite meh..

I think if they did it right it would be awesome, I would love to see it set in TOR era or GCW as the imperials, or set between 3 and 4 although rogue one, rebels, and the Han solo movie are being set around that era. A clone or stormtrooper based show would be cool, it could the war from a squads perspective.
