| Nothing makes me more paranoid than new Nvidia drivers. But yeah, completely reinstalling the Nvidia drivers are the best way to go if you got performance issues. _________________ |

I guess so. _________________ - Steam:

- @donta1979: No, it was literally stuck at the lowest clock speed regardless of game or application. Marmoset Toolbag was slow as molasses, and it turned out it was because my GPU clock was stuck at 135 Mhz vs. 1300 Mhz typically seen. Uninstalling 364 and installing 362 fixed it. However, looks like 365 is out, but who knows.
Yeah I know a past nvidia driver releases did that to my 780 TI and Titan, so figured the fix that worked for me might fix it for you when the card downclocks to crazy low levels. _________________ AAA Environment Artist & Modeler, US Army Combat Vet, Full Sail University Alumni |

Get the Shadow boost mod The Fallout 4 Configuration tool set it to use all cores, and set the cpu to run priority. Next up your old AMD GPU shared the same architecture as the GPU's on the console so the game internally took over the gameworks settings and set them to console levels. Now you have a GTX 970 Right? Now you have gameworks not fully being controlled in the game internally like the the consoles, Gameworks is going all out. Resulting in your dips. Just odd though your 970 should be able to handle the game at 1080p. Yes you will have dips in the 40's in high asset areas with gameworks and shadow distance set to max. Not much you can do about it. Unless you want to go back to your old gpu, or try to figure out how to control the game works settings with the Fallout 4 configuration tool manually. Its up to you. As for the new card how long have you had it? Did you pay about 300-375 for it? If so you might want to return it, the GTX 1070 is about to come out and its performance is on par with a GTX Titan X or just above it by a hair. It will handle all those gameworks affects, and be able to handle DX12 no problem. _________________ AAA Environment Artist & Modeler, US Army Combat Vet, Full Sail University Alumni |

| I don't think this is a problem with of Gameworks, more just crappy shadow draws. I think as he upgraded his GPU, the launcher took over the settings and set them all to ultra, which included shadow distance. That single setting didn't choke my GPU (hovering at 50-60%) but it did nuke my frames to mid-40s.
The thing that helped besides setting shadows down was going fullscreen, tuning off Vsync in-game and use Async instead. _________________ |

Payed 250 for it, it was used. I'm building a second pc and waiting for the custom 1070s to come out before purchasing one. I already use F4 config |

| UPDATE: Turns out my CPU fan was a bit crooked leading to VERY harmful temps (68c idle/95c in use). Now everything works like a dream. _________________ “The worst thing that could possibly happen to anybody would be to not be used for anything by anybody.
